Adult Concave Black Eye Patch with Leather Strap (Left Eye)

This product is designed to resemble the patch Congressman Dan Crenshaw wears, but it is not an exact replica. The decision to create this product was driven by a need-based approach. I was tired of buying patches that failed to meet my utilitarian requirements, and I wanted something that looked less costume-like and (to some extent) would reduce the probability of children exclaiming, "Look mom! A pirate!" as I approached. FYI: If you want to look like a pirate, round patches work very well.

This patch is not intended to block light. It was designed for MAXIMUM AIRFLOW, ensuring that it WILL NOT CREATE A SEAL on your skin. The patch is made to allow you to cover your eye and look cool while doing so. The finished product takes approximately two hours to complete and is constructed to fit BELOW THE EYE BROW and WITHIN THE EYE ORBIT, flowing with the face's natural curves and symmetry, thereby providing a more natural and aesthetic look.

I chose Kydex for the body of the patch rather than leather because, in my experience with other products, the leather absorbed moisture from my face, causing the patch to lose its shape. Additionally, I made my design concaved because I was frustrated that my eyelid and eyelashes were hitting the inside of many styles I tried.

The straps are die-cut from top-grain leather, then burnished and treated. They extend onto the inner side of the patch to provide a cushion between the skin and the hard Kydex. You adjust it by holding the loop of the short strap, pulling on the long end, and cinching it to a comfortable position. Initially, the straps will feel like they're loosening slightly, but this is the natural process of the leather breaking in. It will likely take a few adjustments in the beginning while this process plays out.

Kydex is a durable material that keeps its shape. The strap is adjustable up to 26 inches, and the patch features vents for humidity reduction. Additionally, the concave design (Curves Outward) ensures that the patch fits comfortably with most eyeglasses.
